We are lumping these two disciplines together because you can use the same kit – usually a mag-fed bolt-gun with telescopic sight and if you enjoy one you’ll probably enjoy the other. Tactical competitions demand rapid accurate fire on a variety of targets from various shooting positions and distances from 100 to 1000 yards.
The McQueen has its origins in the time just after WW1 when returning marksmen demanded that the NRA organise a competition to demonstrate their battlefield skills and it’s a great little stress-fire competition. To preserve originality and our heritage we still use the authentic McQueen target at Diggle and we shoot at 200 and 300 yards. If you score a perfect 50 – or better still a double 50 then one of our patches is yours.
